The Blue Wave Texas Trout Series will kick off its inaugural tournament on Saturday, February 18, 2006 in Corpus Christi.  The Blue Wave Texas Trout Series will host three premier fishing tournaments across the Texas Gulf Coast in 2006, with a potential purse of more than $150,000 in prize money.

                Beginning in February, three trout tournaments and four redfish tournaments will take place on waters across the Texas Gulf Coast.  Teams of two will have the opportunity to win prize money in addition to earning points to qualify for the two-day championship tournaments.

                Simrod Outdoors, the group who created the Texas Redfish Tournament Series, will produce the Blue Wave Texas Trout Series and the Blue Wave Redfish Series.  Both tournaments will be televised nationally on the “Secrets of the Bays” Fishing Show.

The payout structure for the trout tournaments is based on the number of teams.  With a field of 100 teams, the top prize can be as high as $14,000.00 in that tournament.   Format for the tournaments include a live weigh-in, artificial lures only and participants are allowed to wade-fish. One-in-five teams will earn prize money. 

“We’ve created a fun, competitive tournament circuit that’s affordable for the weekend fisherman,” said Scot Simmons who is one of the founders.  “The format is one-day and the local stops make it feasible for any Texas angler to make the tournaments without investing a lot of time and money.”
