Scot Simmons and Jim Elrod Finish 8th in Corpus Christi Redfish Nation Tournament
The Blue Wave Pro Team of Scot Simmons and Jim Elrod finished 8th in the Corpus Christi Redfish Nation Tournament.With temperatures near the 100’s and no wind, conditions were perfect for sight-fishing in the Blue Wave 190 Deluxe powered by a Suzuki 150 four-stroke.
“I pre-fished for the entire week in a spot I have fished for years that I knew was holding reds”, said Simmons.“On Friday, I went south to an area where I have never been before to look around.I was just going to give our fish a break and leave them alone.While running, I looked around and there were tails everywhere, Redfish and Black Drum.”Friday night after the captain’s meeting the team changed their plans and decided to head south.The team caught 18 Redfish in the two days and all of the fish were sight-casted with a weedless bass worm.
“We were in a foot of water with weeds all the way to the top.The reds were cruising in the weeds.We took turns poling while one of us was on the front platform pitching to them.The majority of the fish would not bite, but we convinced enough of them to make the top ten and get a check.Our custom Blue Wave190 Deluxe was perfect for the conditions.We got to our spot fast and floated shallow.This boat poles great.”
